A 4.3 oz jar of Pupsicle Mix makes about 25 treats in the standard paw and bone mold. A 14 oz bag makes about 80. The Pupsicle Starter Kit has two jars and makes about 50, or about 75 in the Grain Free version because the grain free mix goes further. ### How many calories is one treat? About 20 calories for a Pupsicle made in the standard mold. Add extra water to the mix and each treat comes out lower than that, because you're freezing more water into the same shape. A quarter-sized Baked Biscuit is about 15 calories. ### How long do they take to freeze? Two hours. That's a full freeze in a normal home freezer, in a silicone mold or an ice cube tray. A lick mat takes about the same. Give them the full two hours and they pop straight out of the mold. ### How long do the frozen treats keep? Kept frozen in a sealed bag or container, a couple of months is comfortable. Pop them out of the mold and bag them once they're solid and they keep their flavor. ### How long does the mix keep before I open it? The mix is a shelf-stable powder, so an unopened jar lives in the cupboard, not the fridge. Once you open it, keep the lid on and keep it dry, and only add water to the batch you're making right now. ### Can puppies eat these? Yes, once a puppy is eating solid food. About 20 calories a treat, and you can make them smaller by pouring the batter into a smaller mold or an ice cube tray. ### My dog has allergies. What's actually in this? Chicken and Sweet Potato is freeze dried chicken, whole wheat flour, sweet potato powder and whole egg protein. Beef and Cheddar is freeze dried beef, whole wheat flour, cheddar cheese powder and whole egg protein. Turkey and Cinnamon is whole wheat flour, freeze dried turkey, whole egg protein and cinnamon. Lamb and Spinach is freeze dried lamb, whole wheat flour, spinach powder and whole egg protein. ### Is there a grain free option? Yes. Beef and Cheddar and Turkey and Cinnamon both come in Grain Free, which swaps the whole wheat flour for cassava, almond and coconut flours. The Pupsicle Starter Kit comes in a Grain Free version with both of those flavors. Grain free lives on the Pupsicle side of the line; the Baked Biscuit Mixes are whole wheat based. ### What does freeze-dried actually mean? The meat is frozen and then the ice is drawn out of it under vacuum, so the water leaves without the meat ever cooking. What's left is dry, shelf stable and still recognizably meat, which is why we can grind it into a powder and why adding water back brings the flavor with it. It's the reason a jar of this can sit in your cupboard and still taste like beef. ### Do I need the mold? No. An ice cube tray does the same job, and so does a lick mat. The mold is in the Starter Kit because it makes paw and bone shapes, which are more fun to hand over and more fun to photograph. If you already own a silicone tray, buy a jar of mix instead of a kit. ### Can I use a lick mat? That's our favorite way to use it. Pour the mixed batter straight onto the mat, freeze it for two hours, and hand it over. Instead of one treat gone in a bite, you get about twenty minutes of a busy dog. It's the move for crate time, thunderstorms and nail trims. ### How much should I give my dog? About 20 calories a Pupsicle, so a few a day fit into a normal day without much thought. Add extra water to the batch and each one comes out lighter still. ### Can I make a half batch? Yes, and most people do. The ratio is equal parts mix and water, so a couple of tablespoons of each fills a few cavities. Only mix what you're freezing right now, and keep the rest of the jar dry. ### Does the mix need refrigerating? Not before you open it and not after. It's a dry powder, so it lives in the cupboard with the lid on. Only the finished treats go in the freezer. ### What if my dog won't eat it? Then we refund you. Take a short video of your dog turning the treat down, email it to us at info@coopersdogtreats.com within 30 days of your purchase, and we'll refund your original payment method within a week. One item per customer, up to the price of a Starter Kit. ### How fast do orders ship? Orders leave in 1 to 2 business days and typically arrive in 2 to 5. Shipping is free on every US order, with no minimum. We ship via USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL depending on where you live. ### Do you ship outside the US? Not at the moment. Everything on this site ships within the United States. ### Do you offer a subscription? Yes. Beef and Cheddar, Turkey and Cinnamon, both Baked Biscuit Mixes and the Meatballs can come every month or every other month at 10% off. They're labeled in compliance with AAFCO standards for a treat. ### Can I bake the Pupsicle Mix, or freeze the Baked Biscuit Mix? Each one is built for its own method. Pupsicle Mix gets equal parts water and two hours in the freezer. Baked Biscuit Mix gets five parts mix to one part water, then 45 minutes at 300F. Use each the way it was made and you get the texture you're after. ### Is there anything in here that's bad for dogs? No. Every flavor is freeze dried meat, flour, egg protein and one more ingredient, with no added sugar or salt, and no preservatives or artificial flavors. About 20 calories a treat, and fewer if you add extra water to the batch, so they fit into a day's counting without guesswork. ### Can I mix the flavors together? Nothing stops you. Half a scoop of two flavors in the same bowl freezes exactly the same way. It's a good way to use up the last of two jars. ### How do I clean the mold? The molds and the lick mat are food grade silicone, so they go in the dishwasher. If you're washing by hand, warm soapy water and a rinse is plenty.
